Makar Sankranti '23

  • Conducted On: January 14-15, 2023

Makar Sakranti marks the transition of the sun into the zodiac sign of Capricorn (Makara) on its celestial path. Makar Sankranti falls on January 14th or 15th, depending on the specific year and the position of the sun. It signifies the end of the winter solstice and the beginning of longer days as the sun moves northward

IITH's Makar Sankranti celebration was a delightful blend of traditional and modern activities. From the excitement of kite flying and the warmth of the bonfire to the rhythmic beats of Bhangra and the soulful melodies of a Vibes jamming session, the campus resonated with laughter and camaraderie. Sporting events like Kho Kho, Tug of War, and Dodgeball brought together students in friendly competition, while the artistic flair of Rangoli added a touch of creativity to the festivities.
